Junior triathletes from across Europe met in Porto Santa Margherita, Caorle (VE), to compete in the Europe Triathlon Junior Cup, which proved to be the most popular event. Young athletes, aged 16 to 19, demonstrated their physical prowess, technique, and athletic ability, which led them to register, participate, and place in a competition held in a lively and colorful setting, just like the one that hosted them.
Now in its fifth edition, the Europe Triathlon Junior Cup Caorle 2025 reopened the streets and waters of the seaside town of Porto Santa Margherita, for a swim (300 m), a bike ride (9.5 km), and a final walk (1.9 km). A Super Sprint distance that allowed these young people, of 21 different nationalities, to give their best, demonstrating hard training, perseverance, consistency, and determination.
The competition was smooth and fluid, organized with the aim of, yes, competing, but above all, having fun and appreciating the beautiful Caorle course for all participants. The event is an excellent way to support and highlight the importance of triathlon, especially for the younger generations, the future stars of this discipline. Furthermore, Caorle was proclaimed European Capital of Sport, gaining value and relevance after years of work.
After the race, the young triathletes were able to celebrate their victories and achievements; even those who failed to reach the podium achieved excellent results. The women’s category painted the podium blue, white, and red, planting the French flag, with Rigaud Anouk (FRA) in first place, Houart Lea (FRA) in second, and Grasset Ambre (FRA) in third. A better-than-expected first time in Caorle, commented Rigaud Anouk, while for second-place finisher Hourt, this was her second time competing in this competition. Both women expressed their satisfaction, but also their fatigue, especially in the bike leg, where they noted the skill, technique, and ability of all the participants.
France also took the top two spots on the men’s podium, with Hubner Martin (FRA) winning and Douche Tristan (FRA) in second, while third place went to Belgium, with Jens Smolders (BEL). All three returned to Italy after competing in the 2024 Europe Triathlon Junior Cap Caorle. For Douche Tristan, it was a sense of déjà vu, as he climbed to the same podium spot as last year. The three winners expressed their joy for their results, but also for the organization and the race course, despite some more challenging sections than others.
