La GranVia: a new unsupported gravel adventure across the heart of Veneto, from the plains to the hills and the foothills of the Alps
Starting and finishing at Borgoluce in Susegana (Treviso), La GranVia offers two routes of approximately 350Km (D+ 3.912m) and 200Km (D+ 1.070m) through some of Veneto’s most remarkable landscapes. From the agricultural plains to the vineyards of the Prosecco Hills, from historic villages to the roads leading towards the foothills of the Alps and across the Asiago Plateau, participants will embark on a self-supported adventure, managing their journey entirely at their own pace and according to their own schedule, on routes where more than half of the distance is covered on unpaved roads, offering a gravel experience suited both to newcomers looking for their first two-wheeled adventure (200Km route) and to more seasoned riders who aren’t afraid of tackling more demanding sections as well (350Km route). The event will feature a two-day start window, allowing riders to choose when to begin their adventure while encouraging a more flexible and sustainable experience. Among the locations featured along the routes are Asolo, Bassano del Grappa, Asiago, Marostica, Castelfranco Veneto and Treviso, connected by a continuous succession of iconic landscapes: from the Piave and Brenta rivers to the unmistakable vineyards of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills, and the open spaces and silent forests of the Asiago Plateau. At the heart of the project lies the pleasure of discovering a territory and the freedom to ride at one’s own pace.
A distinctive feature of the event is the Narrative Guide, a digital companion that every participant will receive. More than a collection of technical information, it is designed to tell the stories, traditions, curiosities and cultural heritage of the places crossed along the route, turning every kilometre into an opportunity for discovery. The event is organised by ASD Tri Veneto Run, a sports association already known for established running events such as the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Running Festival, in collaboration with Alta Marca Gravel, a Treviso-based cycling organisation and a key reference point within the local gravel scene.
Nicola Zanetti, member of ASD Tri Veneto Run and one of the event founders, explains: “Our desire with La GranVia is to share the territory we love with people who choose to discover it by bicycle. We believe sport is one of the most authentic ways to connect with a place and take home lasting memories. For this reason, we partnered with the team at Alta Marca Gravel to design the routes, ensuring every participant can enjoy a high-quality, safe and engaging experience. But we wanted to go one step further. That’s where the Narrative Guide comes in. We won’t simply provide a GPX track to follow; we’ll put into every rider’s hands a tool capable of telling the story of the territory, its traditions, its curiosities and the people who have shaped it. Our goal is not only to guide participants along a route, but to help them truly discover and appreciate the places they ride through.”
