Alpago Tri and Aquathlon Kids cancelled

April 2, 2026

With deep regret, we announce the decision to cancel the 2026 edition of the Alpago Tri and Aquathlon Kids, an event that has become a long-standing fixture in the national triathlon calendar.

This difficult but unavoidable decision comes as a result of a complex situation concerning tax-related charges linked to the use of the public area around Lake Santa Croce. Despite our full willingness to settle any outstanding matters, we did not find the necessary openness from the Municipal Administration to resolve the situation. The refusal to provide financial support that could have mitigated these organizational costs has effectively made the event unsustainable.

We are a non-profit amateur sports association dedicated solely to promoting sport and the local territory, not to commercial profit. Being subjected to high fees simply for the transit and technical stopover of athletes in public areas —spaces essential for race transition phases between swimming, cycling, and running— makes the event economically unviable. Furthermore, had we been informed of the scale of these costs from the very first edition, rather than retrospectively, we would never have undertaken the organization of such a large-scale event in Alpago.

The cancellation is a heavy blow both to the historic Age Group race (which not even the pandemic had stopped), capable of attracting hundreds of enthusiasts and generating significant sporting and tourism-related benefits for the area, and to the Youth race, the true promotional heart of the event, which offered hundreds of youngsters a unique opportunity to approach triathlon in the natural setting of Lake Santa Croce.

Silca Ultralite Vittorio Veneto ASD thanks the athletes, volunteers, and partners who have always believed in an event that in recent years has consistently ranked among the most attended sprint triathlon races in Italy. We hope that in the future the necessary administrative and collaborative conditions can be restored to bring this multidiscipline event back to the shores of Lake Santa Croce.
